As a result of workforce reorganisation initiatives in schools and colleges it is recommended that teachers have more time for teaching and planning, and that administrative and supervisory roles like exam invigilation are carried out by external invigilators. Hence there is now a need for temporary workers to invigilate examinations. We are seeking competent adults to join our team of exam invigilators who will work in secondary schools and colleges on a temporary basis to supervise students whilst they sit their external examinations. The age range of the students is most commonly 15 - 18 years old. Examinations happen all year round now and once you are registered with us we will be happy to employ your services as and when required.

A Grade Recruitment is a supply teacher agency run by teachers. We are, for the first time, entering into this new field of recruitment, you will, therefore be joining a new team of invigilators. As a company run by teachers we fully understand the role of invigilation having done it ourselves for many years, we can always help and advise you at any stage.This is work on a temp basis so we require people who can quickly and efficiently travel within a reasonable distance of their home, as we cannot afford for anyone to be late at the start of an examination. You may be required at short notice, although we will endeavour to make bookings at least 24 hours in advance. We would ask that most work would be a minimum of 2.5 - 3 hours. A professional appearance at all examinations will be required.

It is very important that we meet certain criteria relating to the welfare and protection of children in schools. Therefore please read the information below:

Conflict of interest: in the application form we require that you inform us of any secondary schools or colleges your children attend. This will not exclude you from working there but the school would have to be informed.
Passport Photograph: We will require a passport sized photograph. You can send this with your application form or forward it later. If you are employed by us you will be required to turn up to a school with our ID card.
Non UK Citizens We will require a copy of your passport, evidence that you have permission to work in the UK and your police clearance certificate.
Rate of pay: The current rate is £8per hour, which is from time of arrival on site, to time leaving the site. All payments are subject to statutory tax and NI contributions

When you are working alongside children, it is an essential requirement that a Disclosure is done on you. A Disclosure is the service provided by the Criminal Records Bureau to help organisations make safer, more informed recruitment decisions.The CRB is an executive agency of the Home Office and is responsible for providing access to government and police records across England and Wales. As the organisation providing invigilators to schools, it is our responsibility to start the CRB check procedure, for this we require a one-off payment of £33.00 from you, as the Disclosure is then your property not ours.
